January 27, 2002 - An Unexpected Visit

As I was writing some mail on Sunday morning, two tow-headed boys showed up at Mark's front door. It turns out they were the sons of a friend of ours, Paul, who had anchored overnight in the cove in front of the house. I rowed out with the boys and brought Paul and his wife back in for coffee (Mark & Marine appeared while I talking with the boys). Paul invited us out for a sail. Mark, Paul and I went off for a sail along the south shore of Waiheke up to Ponui Island and back. Close hauled on port tack on the way up and a broad reach back. A great sail. Paul, Caroline and their sons stayed for dinner and a good time was had by all
