Poms on the Road

The last couple of nights, my immediate neighbors have been British couples on long tours of New Zealand (three months each) staying in campers.

The first was a middle aged couple (about my age--I’m still middle-aged, aren’t I?) from Manchester in a high-top van the size of the Bongo. It was a rental van and well set up for two. They’d just been to the northland and were heading south, enjoying it so far,

The second couple were in their 70’s, from a small towm near York, driving one of the small Mazda 6 meter bus conversions. They have a motorhome in the UK and they exchange with other van owners in other countries. This was their third exchange in New Zealand. They’d also done exchanges to tour the US and Canada. They would just put ad in the NZMCA publication and it would just work. Not a bad way to vacation.
